Cloudstack?

I’m running Cloudstack 4.17.1.0 and for unknown reasons, I’m having issues running Rocky 9. Kernel begins to boot and then it looks like it fails on loading initrd and I get a kernel oops. Just curious if this is a known issue or if there’s a work around. I tried using the qcow2 image from Rocky as well and just using the install iso to create a new image. Same result. Rocky 8 works fine. Thanks -jeremy

Issue with Cloudstack image

I’m trying to use the latest Rocky 9 qcow2 image in Cloudstack. When I start a VM, I get the “Probing EDD (edd=off to disable)… ok” and then nothing. The kernel doesn’t continue to boot after this. Any tips on how to resolve this? Cloudstack version 4.17.1.0. Thanks -jeremy

RockyLinux 9.1 install Problem

On fresh OS install RockyLinux9.1 With message "Started : cancel waiting for multipath siblings of nvme0n1" install processing is hang on. RockyLinux version 9.1 CPU amd 7950X So I install 9.0 and upgraded to 9.1 by dnf update. But it do not prompt login due to amdgpu problems. To solve this, I upgraded amdgpu driver from https://repo.radeon.com/amdgpu-install/latest/rhel/9.1/ It seems to work. but shutdown command always reboot, does not power-off with option -P (default). with fresh OS install RockyLinux9.1, it works fine? How to solve the install problem? Please advise. Thank you.

Good day from Singapore, I understand both CentOS Linux and Rocky Linux follow Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). I have 2 CentOS 7.9 Linux virtual private servers (VPS) in Europe. They are running Virtualmin/Webmin web hosting control panel in master and slave configuration. Unfortunately, the end of life (EOL) date for CentOS 7.9 is 30 June 2024, which is less than 2 years away. Is it possible to upgrade CentOS 7.9 with Virtualmin/Webmin to Rocky Linux 9.0? Is it technically impossible or too troublesome and complicated? Please advise. Thank you. question about router to double IPs

Hello I have a rocky OS with two public IPs, saying they are: eth0: 1.1.1.1 eth1: 2.2.2.2 default gw: 1.1.1.254 The problem is, when the external user access the IP of eth1 (2.2.2.2), the returned package is routed out by default gw, and the source IP in returned package would be 1.1.1.1, rather than the expected 2.2.2.2 The path looks like: (external user) -> 2.2.2.2 -> 1.1.1.1 -> 1.1.1.254 -> (external user) In this case the external user was seeing the source IP in the returned package is 1.1.1.1, which is not correct IMO. How can I resolve this issue? Thank you.

need to install a CA cert in a initramfs

Dear Rocky community, I am creating an initramfs and I need to install a CA cert in it. The reason is I need to download rootfs from an s3 bucket and the cert under the domain is self-signed. I can copy the CA file through a module but I don't know how to reproduce the tasks done by the update-ca-trust command. This is the module I am working on: #!/bin/bash # module-setup.sh for cacert # called by dracut check() { return 0 } # called by dracut depends() { echo network return 0 } # called by dracut install() { mkdir -p $initdir/etc/pki/ca-trust/source/anchors cp /root/certificate_authority.crt $initdir/etc/pki/ca-trust/source/anchors/ } any advice on how to achieve this? Streams - where are new ones announced?

Hello, On a couple of servers we are considering moving from Apache to Nginx software. Nginx has several streams available corresponding to different versions - 1.14 being the default, and 1.20 the latest available. No problems so far. We are likely to use the nginx:1.20 stream. However, this has made me wonder that if a stream for the next version (nginx:1.22) is created, how would I know about this? Running 'dnf update' is only going to look at our (1.20) enabled stream. I can only think that running 'dnf module list nginx' would show the new stream, but that would have to be run on a regular basis. Are new streams announced anywhere? As a second question, is it possible to simply run something like: dnf module reset nginx dnf module enable nginx:1.22 dnf update in order to 'patch' our current nginx set up from the 1.20 version to 1.22? Download rocky linux image sometimes ignores the Range header

Hey list, I'm deploying Rocky Linux using terraform with libvirt provider to a local hypervisor. During the deployment the libvirt provider makes a get request to download just the first bytes and checks if the image are in a support format. To do this, it uses a the "Range" header which should return a status code 206. This is the expected behavior when using this request header. Most of the calls return the correct status code, but from time to time I get a 200 response status code, the header is ignore and all the all file is downloaded. From behavior I can observe looks to me that some CDN node should be configured in a different way, and is ignoring the "Range" header. Can some confirm if this is the case? Thank you in advance. I'd like to know if there are any restrictions to simply create a sign with the Rocky Linux logo and host the table myself. They are in the powertools repository. powertools is not enabled by default. Can't find kernel build dependencies

I'm trying to install the kernel source to chase down a network problem. (Use the source, Luke! I want to read through the SLAAC code to understand why my IPv6 token isn't getting used.) So I downloaded the source RPM and used yum-builddep to try to install anything necessary to do an "rpmbuild -bp kernel.spec". (That should unpack the source RPM and apply all the patches but not do any actual building.) I'm finding a few packages missing: dwarves libbabeltrace-devel libbpf-devel I don't see them here for direct download, either: <https://download.rockylinux.org/pub/rocky/8/BaseOS/x86_64/os/Packages/d/> <https://download.rockylinux.org/pub/rocky/8/BaseOS/x86_64/os/Packages/l/> Help!

[Introduction] Just... Hello !

Hello there Rocky Community, Just sending a mail to introduce myself. I'm new to Rocky community, my name is Sandro and I'm a system architect on both private and public clouds during the day. I spend most of my days automating software solutions, creating infrastructures (mostly on AWS for public cloud part but also on GCP or private clouds) or debugging obscure applications, using bash, python, cloudformation, terraform and Ansible. My hobbies are comics, movies, books, tv shows, I'm kinda pop culture addict. I was formerly a Mandriva package contributor, then a Mageia package contributor, and now I want to spend time and energy on Rocky Linux because I find the project useful and inspiring. So for now, as a beginning, I'll do some testing, QA, and help wherever I can. I would gladly help on infrastructure, python/C(++)/Perl development, package creation/maintenance, documentation, whatever you want in the future :) I'll be thursday on testing team meeting if you wanna meet me in video :) See ya !

CentOS conversion and Secure Boot

Hello, Now that Secure Boot is supported, is there any documentation that describes the specific steps required to convert a CentOS 8 system with Secure Boot to Rocky? Is this even supported? The scenario I'm looking at is a machine running CentOS 8 that uses both SB and NBDE. The naive approach, and I haven't tested this yet, would be to disable SB, do the conversion, then re-enable it. Thanks for any insights.

Problem booting after kernel upgrading

Hi list, I'm using RL8.5 on my workstation and I have an old NVIDIA GTX 1050ti. Using nouveau I get bad performances so I install nvidia driver from NVIDIA site. I use dkms from EPEL. Today after the kernel update my system (during boot) gone in emergency mode and running journalctl -xb I found this message: kernel: nvidia: module verification failed: signature and/or required key missing - tainting kernel Reinstalling NVIDIA driver solve the problem but: 1) This problem is caused by DKMS that does not recompile the driver for the next driver? 2) Something else Any help will be appreciated. xfs disk quota problem: soft block quota grace period ignored

hi all, I hope somebody can offer some advice on a xfs disk quota problem, where the soft block quota grace period is ignored. I confirmed that the problem affects at least 4 file servers that I mgirated to Rocky. On all servers, xfs disk quotas have worked correctly for over a year with CentOS8.4. Last month, I upgraded the 4 fileservers from CentOS8.4 to CentOS8.5, rebooted, then ran the migrate2rocky.sh script. The migration script reported no errors. This week, I noticed that quotas grace period was ignored. I changed nothing on the servers except upgrading packages/migrating to Rocky. Now when a user's soft block quota is exceeded, write access is denied (even though the user is within the grace period, and below the hard quota).
