This would be true "if" there were such a thing as Rocky Linux 7.9. Rocky didn't exist until 8.4, so there is no recommended path to upgrade from 7.9 to any version of Rocky Linux. Your best bet would be to do as previously suggested and spin up a new instance of Rocky Linux 9 and then migrate your data from your CentOS 7.9 installation.

I understand both CentOS Linux and Rocky Linux follow Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
I have 2 CentOS 7.9 Linux virtual private servers (VPS) in Europe. They are running Virtualmin/Webmin web hosting control panel in master and slave configuration.
Unfortunately, the end of life (EOL) date for CentOS 7.9 is 30 June 2024, which is less than 2 years away.
Is it possible to upgrade CentOS 7.9 with Virtualmin/Webmin to Rocky Linux 9.0? Is it technically impossible or too troublesome and complicated?
Please advise.

According to one article, it says that the migrate2rocky tool only allows migration within a major version. So I think I can only migrate my CentOS 7.9 to Rocky Linux 7.9 and not to Rocky 8 or 9.
